Discovery Sprouts, Preschool, The Three Little Bears and Where the Wild Things Are

This vintage story book of the Three Little Bears, is my favorite ever.

This collection of homemade dolls is too. My oldest daughter got into doll making and began making them around age 6. We bought this darling doll and vintage toy making book since my sister had it and had sewn some beautiful dolls. My sweet and talented oldest, made the doll standing in for Goldilocks, here at about age 12.

The doll making book also had the cute bears, and one year, God Lent me grace to make the set for my son. It would prove to be just the heart salve he needed, later that year.

We read our vintage Three Little Bears, and the children acted out the story.

This red chair was made by my oldest son for his little sister, when he was around 10-12. It made a great chair, for Mama Bear.

This kiddo decided to make a tiny chair out of blocks for Little Bear, so it would could break when Goldilocks sat on it.

The kids had time in the day for their imaginations to guide the experience.

For snack time today, the kids enjoyed helping me to cook porridge. They also enjoyed eating it, and pretending the story characters did the same. In our family when we make an extra smooth cornmeal porridge, we call it “Little Bear Porridge”. We use semolina flour, to make it.

For a Math and Fitness experience, we played hopscotch with our story friends. A wonderful Discovery Sprouts day.

Where the Wild Things Are, Discovery Sprouts Preschool day

“Where the Wild Things Are” is a favorite of most.

The kids glued construction paper circles onto grocery sacks.

We read the story, played in our costuming, then came outside, acting while hearing the story again. Of course, there was time to blow the dandelions!!

This book is a fantastic opportunity to teach the child assertiveness against fierce or scary sources in their life.

I love our guest’s assertive face, scaring the monsters.

watch the Play!
